Massage treatment alongside your chiropractic adjustments particularly deep tissue massage can really help you benefit more from such treatment. Massage alone has many benefits as mentioned in our last blog post.
- Relieve Lower Back Pain
- Ease Muscle Tension
- Reduce Depression and Anxiety
- Improved Functions of Daily Life
- Increased Circulation
- Treat Muscular Injuries and Surrounding Joints
- Alleviate Headaches
When you have an injury such as lower back pain, neck pain, upper back pain, or sciatica the muscles will contract around the affected area to try and protect it and prevent any more harm being caused. This is something that they will always naturally do but your muscles doing this will make your muscles tight. A deep tissue massage is a great way of easing the tension and releasing the muscles it also helps to get the blood flowing around the body and muscles which will help with circulation.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care
Regular chiropractic adjustments can reduce joint restriction and inflammation, increase mobility, improve the function of your nervous system, and reduce pain.
Chiropractic is a skeletal treatment whereas massage treats the muscles which tighten up to protect the skeleton and unless they are ‘relaxed’ will still fight against the adjustment.
A lot of people carry their stress around their neck which can cause headaches, in this case it is the muscles which need to be relaxed by massage techniques to benefit you the guest. If the muscles are not relaxed and you just have a chiropractic adjustment your body will still benefit from the adjustment however, with the muscles fighting against the adjustment your body may return to how it was quicker than if the muscles were more relaxed, hence why we recommend massage with chiropractic treatment. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen just after one treatment so regular sessions are recommended.
Do I have a massage before or after a chiropractic treatment?
Massages before a chiropractic adjustment relaxes the muscles so the chiropractor can perform a better adjustment for your body. Although some guests prefer a massage after chiropractic treatment as they find it helps their body to recovery. It is down to personal preference but massage before an adjustment is generally the better option in most cases. At Bolton Spinal Health we will be offering a Pre Payment Plan which offers Chiropractic and Massage together.
