About Foot and Ankle Pain
The feet and ankles are the foundation of the body. If your feet and ankles aren’t functioning to their highest ability there’s a high chance that another area of the body will be affected.
The pain experienced in the feet and ankles can be a result of other areas of the body not functioning correctly these can include; the knees, hips and most commonly the lower back. All of these areas affect the balancing of the feet and can result in foot pain and pain within the ankle joint.
The pain and dysfunction in the feet can affect the whole body and cause the muscles in the legs to become sore leading to loss of mobility. This can also result in hip misalignment and back pain.
When an injury occurs within the ankle it can affect the muscles, ligaments and tendons as this is what makes up the structure of the ankle. Injuring the ankle can also lead to the same side effects as foot injury or pain and it can also impact on the bones in the feet and legs.
There are a multitude of things that can cause foot and ankle pain but the below list are the most common ones:
- Nerve damage or injury
- Stress Fractures
- Sprained Ankles
- Bursitis (Inflames Joints)
- Arthritis (specifically osteoarthritis)
- Gout
- Blocked Blood Vessels
- Achilles Tendinitis

The Treatment Options We Offer:
Chiropractors and Osteopaths can make adjustments on many different joints and muscles in the body including the feet and ankles.
This can help to increase flexibility and mobility within the joints. At Bolton Spinal Health we offer a combined approach of chiropractic, osteopathy and massage to give a diverse approach to spinal wellness. We have a “whole body” approach and firmly believe that when one part of the body isn’t functioning it impacts on another. Once we have conducted a thorough consultation we can recommend a course of care and hopefully alleviate the pain.
