Meet The Team

James Holman

CHIROPRACTOR

My name is James Holman, I took over as the Chiropractor at Newlands in 2008, we were called Bolton Chiropractic back then and continue a long line of Chiropractors that have been at Newlands since the 1970’s. We have expanded and moved to have more room in Newlands, and more recently altered our name to Bolton Spinal Health. This is to reflect the addition of massage therapists, and physiotherapists as well as our IDD and shockwave machine.

I have been a chiropractor for over 20 years, I studied in Bournemouth graduating in 2002. I have many qualifications alongside chiropractic, from paediatrics to golf physical assessment to IDD.
I was drawn to become a chiropractor during my anatomy degree, this was on reflection about the management of a lower back injury I had aged 15 playing rugby.

The body is an incredible thing, every single part of the body has a function. We help support the body to function efficiently instead of allowing dysfunction and miscommunication within the body to increase the speed of degeneration. One of my favourite things is understanding the cause and mechanics of pain. I enjoy being able to explain the problem in simple terms and work out the correct course of action.

I look forward to meeting everyone that visits us, and I cannot wait to help you live life to the full!!

Shi Ying Tan

CHIROPRACTOR

Hi, I am Shi Ying, a chiropractor with additional qualifications in paediatrics, pregnancy, and DNS rehab a highly recognised muscular rehab program. I have been a chiropractor at Bolton Spinal Health for over 2 years now, after I graduated in 2021.

I have always wanted to pursue a career that helps and supports others, when I was living at home in Malaysia, I searched different options. I was inspired to become a chiropractor in the UK because of the lack of chiropractic education in Malaysia.

I love badminton and play weekly games, speed of thought and body are essential. I also, love to travel and cook. I think it is important to have varying hobbies that help you stay fit and happy.

One thing that really interests me in chiropractic care is: baby’s spines begin developing just two months after conception. The spine is the first bone to start to grow when we are in the womb. As I have extra education in paediatrics, helping to support the baby in and out of utero is one of my passions.

Joe Shepherd

CHIROPRACTOR

Hi, my name is Joe! I am from Newcastle but did my learning down in Bournemouth. After graduating in 2020, I have completed a few different courses and qualifications including the internationally recognised sports chiropractic diploma, all of which help refine my care and support for our guests.

I am a very sporty person, with a dedication to health. I am an avid runner, as well as loving to participate in hiking when I can.

I was inspired by chiropractic when I first went through a painful knee injury. I came to the decision that from then I wanted to be able to help others get back on their feet and be pain free.

One thing I love about the body is that through cell regeneration we basically get a mostly new body every 10 years! I love working at Bolton Spinal Health, every single individual brings a different personality to the treatment room, and it is interesting to get to know so many incredible people!!
I am thankful I get to work alongside our guests and help support everyone that comes through our doors.

I have always wanted to be able to help people, so I decided to go into massage therapy as a way to help people heal and become pain free.

I think of my job as something I enjoy as much as a hobby, as well as this I am avid fan of gaming and love watching a good film.

Something I find interesting about the body is how it can heal itself, the ability to be able to mend injuries from bones to muscles. We, as a clinic, help support that healing and encourage the body to heal faster with our additional support.

I have been at Bolton Spinal Health for many years now, and I am excited to continue to support and learn about all our guests. Encouraging them to live life to the fullest!

I am excited to join the team, I cannot wait to meet everyone!!

Meet Our Chiropractic Assistants

J.C. - Bolton, England

I have suffered with neck, shoulder and arm pain and the treatment I have received has really helped me. I would certainly recommend anyone who is suffering with pain to attend this clinic.

T.W.

It has been fantastic to get some treatment that cures the cause and not just the symptoms.  I’m now pain free – Great!

A.H.

Before coming for treatment I had severe discomfort in my lower back following an operation.  This caused problems with my posture.  I am now able to stand taller and walk more freely.

J.H.

Seeing a Chiropractor has changed my life. Previously I was in pain most of the time and my quality of life was restricted. Now I know that there is hope for a future without pain.

R.W.

This is a practice whose staff are friendly, helpful and professional.  My treatment is far from over (arthritic spine, hip surgery etc.) but I am certain that without it I should be in a far worse state than that which I presently enjoy.

J.J.

Before any treatment, I was very stiff and did not have much movement in my neck.  I now have full movement in my neck.
