Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is the non-surgical spinal decompression treatment that treats targeted spinal segments. IDD therapy allows us to decompress the intervertebral disc, improve mobility and relieve pain. If you suffer from lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica or trapped nerves, prolapsed/bulging disc or trapped nerves and you are not making improvements with normal chiropractic/osteopath treatments, our IDD treatment may help you.
IDD addresses the limitations of what Chiropractors and Osteopaths can do. The treatment involves almost painless distraction of the targeted spinal segments to remove pressure from spinal structures including the discs. IDD also works on back muscles and ligaments helping to improve mobility of the joints.
Many back pain conditions are located at a particular level in the spine. IDD Therapy uses computer-controlled pulling forces delivered by the SPINA medical devices to gently distract (draw apart) targeted segments of the spine in order to take pressure off specific discs and nerves whilst at the same time, gently stretching tight muscles and stiff ligaments.
By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues, we can improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently. This then allows us to relieve pain caused by muscle spasm and alleviate nerve compression and irritation cased by bulging discs.
The four goals of IDD Therapy treatment are as follows:
- Improve the health of the intervertebral disc
- Rehabilitate supporting muscles and ligaments
- Realign spinal structures
- Release pressure on nerves
As chiropractors and osteopaths, we can treat most back and neck pain with manual therapies but for some conditions – particularly those which are disc-related – patients need something more to help their condition improve.
Why choose IDD Therapy Spinal Decompression?
* Current treatment is not working
* Want to stop taking painkillers
* Seeking long-term pain relief
* Want to return to normal daily activities
Typical candidates for IDD Therapy are people who have back or neck pain and may have tried various other treatments without success. They may be taking pain medication and may be considering invasive treatments such as injections or in extreme cases, surgery. There are over 1,000 clinics providing treatment internationally including us at Bolton Spinal Health.
