Between 10th and 16th May is mental health awareness week. We understand that mental health is an important subject. No one should suffer with mental health problems alone. We as humans can help each other by talking and listening to one another.

At our practice we understand that our guests love to tell us about their day to day life when they are waiting for their appointment. This is a great way for people to talk and open up about their life and small problems. You never know what someone is going through and we believe that it is especially important to listen to people.

This month Mental Health Foundation feature stories and top tips to deal with mental health.

The Theme

The mental health foundation has chosen nature as the theme this year. The reason is because as Aristotle said ‘There is something to be wondered at in all of nature’. Nature is so central to our psychological and emotional health, that it is almost impossible to realise good mental health for all without a greater connection to the natural world.

Here at Bolton Spinal Health, we love nature, and we bring natural healing to your body to allow you to stay healthy and live life to the full. We always encourage our guests to get outside with nature at least 30 minutes a day for exercise and vitamin D. Research suggests that we are also more likely to rest when we are at peace in nature.  It turns out that it is not just being in nature but how we open ourselves up and interact with nature that counts. It shows that even small contacts with nature can reduce feelings of social isolation and be effective in protecting our mental health and preventing distress.

We suggest you listen to others, talk to others, and just enjoy being at peace in nature. We find it makes us feel alive and free. Next time you come to our practice we will have our new plants to add to our natural approach to healthcare and we hope you enjoy the good vibes our plants give off when you come into practice.

Visit the Mental Health Foundation for more information on Mental Health and how you can get involved this week and all year round to help yourself and people who suffer with mental health.

Please talk and listen much love the Bolton Spinal Health Team.
